This is a big question that you ask a computer literate person when you are the one that’s computer illiterate. “What should I get?, Mac or PC“. And to be honest, I grew up Mac’s in my household, so I never really needed to worry about getting a virus. My dad just chose Mac’s because they were better for editing photos in Photoshop, and other things like the software you get on a Mac in particular. Ever since the very first Mac to be released by Apple, we have been using Mac’s. Though this post is not supposed to convince you to get a Mac, I’m just sharing my own history with computers.
As of this writing, I am using a Dell Inspiron 3670, with Windows 10 installed. I use Kaspersky Total Security, and I haven’t had any problems because I know what websites to avoid clicking on and I have pop-up blockers and other anti-spyware and anti-malware programs installed. I like to play games like GTA 5 Online and Starcraft 2: Legacy Of The Void. I have been debating on getting a Mac because of it’s software, though I would need a beefed up Mac to run my games in Boot Camp.
It Depends On Your Needs
As for my needs, I love games, and I love upgradability. I can’t have two computers running in my office so I had to pick just one. I honestly wish I had built a custom PC but at the time I was looking for simplicity, and Dell’s are upgradable. I honestly don’t recommend getting a Dell however, because certain things you upgrade can void the warranty. But anyways, if you are not the kind of person to play games, and you just need a computer that can surf the web, either Mac OSX, Windows or Linux can be a great solution for you. I honestly run Linux through a virtual machine so I have the best of both worlds on my computer.
It may also depend on if you use an iPhone or an Android phone for what computer you get. If you use an iPhone a Mac is a better choice for you, but you can also use an iPhone with Windows too. Anyways, I could go on all day about this, if you simply leave a comment below with what ever question you might have I will gladly reply when I have time.
What’s Your Price Point?
What your price point is, is another factor that determines which computer you will buy. You may know nothing about speed terms and storage terms in computers, so Best Buy or Staples may be the best places for you to get advice on the computer you need. It also is true that a Desktop computer would run much longer than a Laptop, though a Laptop you can take anywhere with you. So, if you have a friend that is into computers be sure to ask them personally what would best suit your needs.
Once you have bought a Mac or a PC, getting setup is the hard part, if your new to computers at all. If you have chosen a Mac your probably already setup and ready to go, if you chose a PC, you might have to install a new browser because Internet Explorer is a piece of junk and sucks for blogging. And the truth is, you can use Mac OS X, Windows or Linux for blogging, you don’t need a special kind of computer to do that, though the only thing I can recommend is getting enough RAM (at least 16GB’s) so you can have a lot of Tabs open in your web browser. The other thing that helped me out is having dual monitors, so I can look at two windows at once with two monitors turned on.
That’s about it, so if your still stuck on what you should get, leave a comment below and I’ll help you the best I can.
